Former Warner Independent Pictures (WiP) executive Amanda Coplan (pictured) has been hired as vice president of production at Mark Gill and Neil Sacker's The Film Department.

Coplan will be based in the company's West Hollywood offices and will report to president of production Robert Katz.

Andrew Klausmeyer, John Meckler, Natalie Borlaug, Christine Otal and Isaac Takeuchi have been appointed creative executives at the company.

At WiP, Coplan worked in development, production and acquisitions and on such films as Good Night, And Good Luck, The Science Of Sleep, The Painted Veil and March Of The Penguins.

Prior to that she was a brand strategy consultant for entertainment clients including New Line Home Entertainment and Cirque Du Soleil.

'Amanda is a talented and savvy executive with a keen eye for great material,' Katz said. 'We have no doubt that she will be an enormous asset as our slate grows.'

Klausmeyer most recently worked at UTA in the motion picture literary department.

Meckler previously worked as a script analyst for WiP, and Borlaug arrives from Todd Phillips Company, where she worked as an assistant to producer Daniel Goldberg.

Otal joins the Film Department from UTA, and Takeuchi served the last four years in CAA's motion picture literary department.

The Film Department plans to produce six films a year in the $10-35m range.
