Creative Skillset has appointed Bobby Hain and Rhodri Talfan Davies as the respective new chairs for its Scottish and Welsh national boards.

Hain is director of channels for Central Scotland’s ITV franchise STV and replaces Ken MacQuarrie, director of BBC Scotland, as chair on the Scotland board, while Talfan Davies has overall editorial and managerial responsibility for BBC Cymru Wales and replaces John Geraint, creative director of Green Bay, as chair on the Wales board.

Stewart Till CBE, chair of Creative Skillset and CEO of Sonar Entertainment, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Bobby and Rhodri to Creative Skillset’s Scotland and Wales boards. They both bring a wealth of experience that will be a great asset to steer our work in the nations through the exciting and challenging developments that lie ahead for the Creative Industries.”

Hain said: “I am honoured to take on this role and continue Ken’s great work leading Creative Skillset’s National Board in Scotland.

Talfan Davies said: “Skills and training are so important to the development of the Creative Industries in Wales, and I know Creative Skillset Cymru has the knowledge and insight to help drive the sector forward. My aim is to progress the good work that has been achieved so far, particularly at a time of such extraordinary and exciting change”.
