Ang Lee's Oscar-tipped Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon walked away with six awards including best picture at the Golden Horse Awards - Taiwan's equivalent of the Oscars - on Saturday night.

The picture's other five awards were all in the technical categories and included best sound effects, best action choreography, best original film score, best film editing and best visual effects. Crouching Tiger has been chosen as Taiwan's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, but has also been tipped for a best picture nod.

The best actress Golden Horse went to Maggie Cheung for her performance in Hong Kong's official Oscar entry, Wong Kar-wai's In The Mood For Love, while best actor went to Francis Ng for Johnny To's actioner The Mission. To also picked up the best director award.

Taiwanese stars Cheung Ka-nin (The Cabbie) and Chao Mei-ling (Lament Of The Sand River) took the best actor and actress awards respectively.
