Danielle Panabaker, star of the recent North American box office hit Friday The 13th, and emerging UK talent Joe Anderson have joined Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell in Overture Films' The Crazies.

Filming on the reinvention based loosely on George A Romero's 1973
thriller is set to begin on March 5 in Georgia, with additional
shooting scheduled in Iowa. Overture Films is financing the picture, with Participant Media, and Overture will distribute domestically. Paramount Vantage International commenced overseas sales at the EFM last month.

Breck Eisner is directing the story of the inhabitants of a small town
who are driven mad after a toxin contaminates their water. When the
town is placed under quarantine the people suspect a sinister
government conspiracy.

Panabaker plays a receptionist at the medical center where Mitchell's
character works as a doctor. Anderson, whose previous credits include
Across The Universe, The Ruins and Becoming Jane and who will star in
Mira Nair's upcoming Amelia Earhart biopic Amelia, will play the
deputy sheriff. Olyphant is cast as the sheriff.

Ray Wright wrote the screenplay from an earlier draft by Scott Kosar.
Michael Aguilar, Dean Georgaris and Rob Cowan are producing and Romero is executive producer.
