David J. Anderman has been named general counsel for Lucasfilm Ltd and will now oversee all business affairs and legal issues for the privately held company.

Anderman has been a key member of Lucasfilm's legal team since he joined the company in 1998 as associate director of business affairs. He was named director of corporate business affairs in 2001 and was promoted in 2005 to senior director of business affairs.

Since joining Lucasfilm, he has overseen legal matters related to production and distribution of films and television as well as negotiated worldwide merchandising and promotional licences, technology transactions, online ventures and real estate development deals.

'David's great contributions to Lucasfilm over the past ten years have made it clear that he is the ideal person to guide our legal and business affairs needs,' Lucasfilm vice president Howard Roffman., to whom Anderman will continue
to report, said.

Anderman began his legal career as an intellectual-property litigator in the Silicon Valley office of Brown & Bain, before joining the office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
