Carlos de Abreu, founder of the Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards, is launching Hollywood NetAwards, a competition targeting excellence in the entertainment field on the internet.

The NetAwards, which will take place on Oct 22 in Los Angeles, will feature 22 categories including best actor and actress sites, celebrity site, entertainment blog site, entertainment news site as well as best net actor and actress, net director and web series.

'Our vision provides for the merger of existing media with future technologies by recognizing achievement and innovation in a variety of disciplines that will continue to propel Hollywood into the global online community, as well as the discovery of new creative talent,' said de Abreu in a statement.
