The Walt Disney Company and Modi Enterprises Ltd have dissolved their joint venture company, Walt Disney India Pvt Ltd.

Disney is now seeking the Indian government's permission to set up a wholly owned subsidiary for the launch of the Disney Channel in India.

The move comes after the expiry of the 10-year licence agreement between Disney and Modi.

Under the joint venture agreement, signed in 1993, Modi had the rights to market Disney TV programming in India.

Disney film product is distributed through Sony Columbia Tristar India.
