Buena Vista International Television (BVI-TV) has licensed its Classic Treasure package, a bundle of Disney and Pixar animation features to free-TV broadcasters in Europe. Following a similar deal last week with the BBC (Screendaily Oct 1), Danmarks Radio of Denmark, SIC of Portugal, Cinenova in Benlux and RTE in Ireland became the latest buyers for the collection which was released into the free-TV sector for the first time at April's MIP-TV market.

The broadcasters have each licensed five titles froma selection comprising: Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Mulan, A Bug's Life, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and Pocahontas on offer.

"These films have a unique resonance with kids and families. Now for the first time I am delighted that viewers will be able to enjoy these classic films on terrestrial television throughout Europe," said David Hulbert, president of Walt Disney Television International.

In addition to the animation package RTE bought Pearl Harbor, Gone In 60 Seconds and The Sixth Sense as well as current series Alias, Scrubs and Jim Belushi sit-com vehicle According To Jim.

Finland's Channel 4 also signed for Alias, a series about a student who leads a double life as a secret agent; Scrubs, a medical comedy which screens on NBC in the domestic US market; and Bob Patterson, a hit comedy series about a self-help guru whose own life is in need of straightening out.
