Touchstone's airbornethriller Flightplan opened top onan estimated $24.6m as a strong autumn revival saw box office climb for thethird consecutive weekend.

The thriller stars JodieFoster a woman who becomes convinced that she has lost her daughter on atransatlantic flight. Peter Sarsgaard also stars in Robert Schwentke's picture,which drew mediocre reviews but still captured the public imagination with astrong average of $7,198 on 3,424 screens.

Warner Bros' Tim Burton'sCorpse Bride expanded wide in itssecond weekend and soared 21 places to second on $20.1m for a $20.6m runningtotal.

The critics loved Burton'sanimated romance, which features the voice talents of Johnny Depp and HelenaBonham Carter. It averaged $6,282 from 3,204.

Last weekend's champion,DreamWorks' Just Like Heaven,slipped to third place on $9.8m for $20.6m, while Screen Gems' The ExorcismOf Emily Rose fell three to fifth,now standing at $62.3m after three weekends.

Fox Searchlight's rollerskating romp Roll Bounce starringBow Wow and Chi McBride opened in fourth place on $8m. Malcolm D Lee's1970s-set picture drew good reviews and averaged $4,923 on 1.625 screens.

Elsewhere Lord Of War, released in North America through Lions Gate, fellthree to sixth, with a total of$17.2m after two weekends. Universal's comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin is on the cusp of $100m after falling three toseventh in its sixth weekend on $4.3m for $96.6m.

WiP's March of ThePenguins fell out of the top 10. Itranked 11th in its 14th weekend after adding $1.7m for $72.8m.

Next weekend's wide releasesare Buena Vista's golf drama The Greatest Game Ever Played starring Shia LaBeouf and Stephen Dillane; New Line'sexpansion of A History Of Violence starringViggo Mortensen and Maria Bello; Sony's adventure Into The Blue starring Paul Walker and Jessica Alba; andUniversal's sci-fi adventure Serenity, which stars Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres.
