Niels Arden Oplev’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Män Som Hatar Kvinnor) picked up best feature and best actress prizes at Sweden’s Guldbagge Awards last night (January 25).

Noomi Rapace scooped the best actress award for her role in the Scandanvian hit; which also also picked up the Audience Award. A US remake is already planned.

Yellow Bird’s Søren Stærmose, the film’s Danish producer, said: “It’s good for the soul to watch movies. What’s not good for the soul is men who hate women.”

Lisa Siwe scooped the best director award for Glowing Stars (I Taket Lyser Stjärnorna), while Fredrick Elfeldt’s The Girl (Flickan) too the prize for best cinematopgraphy.

Austrian director Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon (Das Weiße Band) was named best foreign feature and veteran producer Waldemar Bergendahl was honoured with a Life Achievement Award.
