The former independent producer and senior production executive at Unique Features arrives as president of production and acquisitions in the wake of the departure of key executives Peter Lawson and Donna Gigliotti.

Effective immediately, Sellers will preside over the expanded division, which TWC called an “organic evolution” in a statement issued on Wednesday (Jan 4). The company will continue to target three to five productions a year and is set to shoot Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and The Silver Linings Playbook, which David O Russell is on board to direct, in 2012.

Sellers, whose producing credits include Footloose and Agent Cody Banks, will be based in Los Angeles and will report to Harvey Weinstein and David Glasser in New York.

According to reports evp of acqisitions and co-productions Lawson is leaving TWC to become president of production at Basil Iwanyk’s Warner Bros-based Thunder Road, while president of production Gigliotti is seguing into an independent producer role and has signed a multi-film deal with TWC.
