Clint Eastwood will receive the 20th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival's Career Achievement Award on January 6.

Eastwood directed the current awards season contenders are Gran Torino, in which he stars, and Changeling, which stars Angelina Jolie.

He will next direct and produce The Human Factor about Nelson's Mandela's first term as president of South Africa starring Morgan Freeman as Mandela and Matt Damon as the South African rugby captain Francois Pienaar.

Eastwood won the best picture and best director Oscars for Million Dollar Baby in 2005 and the best director Oscar for Unforgiven in 1993. He received the Academy's Irving Thalberg Memorial Award in 1995.

Acting highlights include The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, For A Few Dollars More, Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, Play Misty For Me, Escape From Alcatraz and In The Line Of Fire.

'Clint Eastwood is a living legend who continually raises the bar of artistic expression with each new film, whether he is acting, directing, or producing,' festival chairman Harold Matzner said.
