The events are being launched by the Centre for the Moving Image.
Scotland’s Centre for the Moving Image (CMI) is launching two talent labs — the EIFF Talent Lab and Composer Minilab — which will take place during the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).
Funded through the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund, the EIFF Talent Lab will offer 35 places to both new and established directors, producers and screenwriters.
Participants will take part in a weekend of events (June 18-19) discussing projects and ideas, through one-to-one advice and information sessions.
The Composer Minilab will provide training to eight aspiring film composers, through a series of workshops and masterclasses, with plans to launch a residency at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 2012.
The two labs are part of the Centre for the Moving Image’s broader Talent Foundation programme, which has the core objectives of “improving access to the film industries, supporting writing, directing and producing talent as well as those skilled in practical filmmaking, festival curation, management and projection.”
Gavin Miller, CEO Centre for the Moving Image said the labs were designed “to offer a significant platform for film talent in Scotland.”

We look forward to welcoming those ambitious enough to secure one of the coveted places,” he added.
