The Baader Meinhof Complex’s writer-producer Bernd Eichinger and director Uli Edel are to bereunited this summer for a biopic of Germany’s No. 1 rapper Bushido.

The Constantin Film production, which is inspired by Bushido’s bestselling autobiography of the same name, will be produced by Christian Becker of Rat Pack Filmproduktion and released theatrically by Constantin in 2010.

Eichinger, who will write the screenplay for Bushido, said: “Uli and I want to make a film like Bushido’s music: authentic, provocative and radical.”

Eichinger and Edel had originally planned to work together this summer on an adaptation of Siegfried Lenz’s 2008 novella A Minute’s Silence (Schweigeminute) about a summer love affair between a grammar school boy and his English teacher. This project is now on hold until next year.

For Eichinger and Edel, this will be their sixth collaboration after Christiane F. - Wir Kinder Vom Bahnhof Zoo, Last Exit, Brooklyn and The Mists Of Avalon, and, most recently, the Oscar-nominated The Baader Meinhof Complex.

Meanwhile, Becker’s Rat Pack begins production next week (April 21) on the action comedy Jerry Cotton to be directed by Cyrill Boss and Philipp Stennert as a co-production with Constantin Film, B.A. Produktion and Studio Babelsberg.
