UK funding body the Film Council has recruited Intermedia senior executive Will Evans to be its new head of business affairs.

Evans, an entertainment lawyer with 23 years' experience, joins the Film Council on 2 September. He has worked at Intermedia for six years, most recently as co-president of Intermedia Music Group.

In his new role Evans will report to chief executive officer John Woodward and provide support to the three film investment funds, working with Premiere Fund head Robert Jones, New Cinema Fund head Paul Trijbits and Development Fund head Jenny Borgars on structuring deals, managing the funds and raising finance. Evans will also work with Helen Bagnall, head of the Training Fund.

One of the most important elements of his appointment will be to focus on building long-term business partnerships with key players in the film industry.

Gillian Clyde, who has been running the department since April of this year, will continue in her role as head of Legal reporting to Evans.

John Woodward commented: "We are delighted that Will is joining us. His wide experience in the film business will be a valuable asset to the Film Council."
