Elizabeth Dreyer, who most recently served as Miramax'sLondon-based film buyer, has joined Stephane Sperry's Liaisons Films as vicepresident of development and acquisitions.

Dreyer will work out of Liaisons' Paris office and her duties willinvolve coordinating with the company's Los Angeles office, Canal Plus,StudioCanal and parent company Universal Pictures. Liaisons has a multi-yearfirst-look deal with Universal's specialist division Focus Features.

Dreyer will report directly to Sperry and work closelywith the Focus Features acquisitions team headed by Amy Kaufman, Focus'executive vice president of acquisitions and co-productions.

"We've already begunour first production with Focus, and with Elizabeth on board everyone islooking forward to expanding the relationship even further, " said Sperry in astatement today.

Added Dreyer: "As someone who loves movies, I'm now in especiallygood company. This unique joint opportunity empowers me to seek out excitingnew movies and filmmakers from all over the world."

Dreyer worked for seven years at Miramax Films, becoming itsvice-president of acquisitions. From her London base, she was involved in theUS pick-ups of both Amelie and Nanni Moretti's 2001 Palme d'Or winner The Son's Room.

Through Liaisons, Sperry is executive producing the Frenchthriller Saint Ange,starring Virginie Ledoyen, which is being produced by Richard Grandpierre andChristophe Gans. It is written and directed by Pascal Laugier.

Shootingis underway on the project, which Focus and Studio Canal plan to release nextyear.
