Zacharias Kunuk's Anatarujuat: The Fast Runner has grossed more than C$1m ($650,000) at the Canadian box office. The film has been on release since April 12 through Alliance Atlantis' art house distribution arm Odeon Films.

The film won the Camera d'Or at Cannes in 2001 and went on to win six Canadian Genie Awards. In a statement, Odeon said the Inuit-language epic has drawn viewers from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast to the Arctic coast. It opens in the US June 4 through Lot 47.

Toronto-based Cinemavault Releasing is handling worldwide sales; at Cannes the company closed 14 territorial deals including Alcine Terran for Japan, Mediafilm for Italy and SF Norge for Norway.
