Principalphotography began this week [Nov 27] on Abel Ferrara's Italian-US screwballcomedy Go Go Tales starring WillemDafoe, Bob Hoskins and Matthew Modine.

Theproject charts the fall-out when a cabaret impresario is told his club facesimminent foreclosure. Asia Argento and Lou Doillon also star. Go Go Tales is shooting at Rome's Cinecitta Studios and will move toNew York in January 2007 for exterior shots.

Ferraraalso wrote the project, which is being produced by American financier Steven WLefkowitz' Go Go Tales Inc along with Swiss entrepreneur Massimo Gatti'sBellatrix Media. Enrico Coletti and Massimo Cortesi are serving as executiveproducers.

"Whenwe read the script of Go Go Tales, itreminded us of the comedies of Frank Capra, Billy Wilder and Preston Sturges, where tragic events became black comedy and reality was seen with rose coloredglasses and rules were bent with a carefree irony," Coletti said. "Wecan think of no one better than Abel Ferrara to bring this story to life."
