Ferrara isexpected to attend the festival and present a selection of his films, includinghis latest feature, Mary.
"This courageous filmmaker makes no concessions - in hismovies as well as in the persona he presents to the world. He speaks his mindand, very openly, doesn't care if he looks and talks like some of the charactersin his earliest films, " saidHoward Feinstein, coordinator of Sarajevo's tribute programme.
Bronx-bornFerrara currently lives in Rome. Mary,starring Juliette Binoche and Matthew Modine, captured a special jury award at the 2005Venice Film Festival. His best-known films include King of New York,Bad Lieutenant and BodySnatchers.
Sarajevolaunched its Tribute To' programme in 2000 and has previously honoured SteveBuscemi, Mike Leigh, Stephen Frears, Peter Mullan, Dusan Makavejev, Gaspar Noeand Alexander Payne.
