Sobini Films has boarded international sales rights to Andy Garcia’s Hemingway & Fuentes, an account of Ernest Hemingway’s years in Cuba.

Production is set to start in summer 2010 on the project and Hopkins, Garcia and Hilary Hemingway, the late author’s granddaughter who co-wrote the screenplay with Garica, will attend a buyers brunch on Friday.

The story charts the years Hemingway spent in Cuba with his friend Fuentes (Garcia) and how he falls in love with the beautiful Italian girl who inspired him to write The Old Man and the Sea, which many consider his greatest work. Bening plays the role of Hemingway’s third wife Mary Welsh Hemingway.

Garcia and his CineSon production company, through the Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group, have partnered with Sobini Films to present the film to international buyers.

Hopkins is represented by Jeremy Barber at UTA, Bening is represented by Kevin Huvane at CAA, and Garcia is handled by Paradigm.
