Polish legend Andrzej Wajda is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the winter festival

Acclaimed director Andrzej Wajda is to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th Plus Cameraimage Festival (Nov 26 – Dec 3) in Poland.

The Bydgoszcz-based festival, which has a strong focus on cinematography, is honouring Wajda specifically for his contribution to Polish film and his artistic achievements in filmmaking.

The event will also mark the 10th anniversary of the Wajda School, originally founded by Wojciech Marczewsk and Wajda as the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in 2001.

Oscar-winner Wajda first came to international attention for his epic war trilogy, which concluded in 1958 with Ashes and Diamonds.
