Also at CPH: DOX, Taskovski Films announces several deals.

At CPH: DOX, Austrian outfit Autlook has confirmed it has snapped up sales rights on Dutch crowdpleaser Mussels In Love. This is W.J.A. Kluijfhout’s feature doc about his obsession with the shellfish. As the doc reveals, mussels are not only a culinary delicacy; the glue that they produce is also used by gynecologists to save unborn children.

The mollusk-themed doc has already been released in the Netherlands by Cinema Delicatessen. Some Dutch cinemas have been offering cinemagoers a combined ticket allowing them both to see the film and to enjoy a plate of seafood afterwards.

The aim now is to aim Mussels In Love at the culinary section of a major European festival held early in the New Year.

Also at CPH: DOX, London-based sales outfit Taskovski Films has announced a raft of new pick-ups as well as several deals done on its current slate.

Work Hard Play Hard, Taskovski’s satirical doc about the changing nature of the workplace in a post-industrial, digital era, has been sold to Germany (Kinotext) and Cinelibre (Switzerland). Taskovski is also in negotiations with Kinosmith for Canadian rights.

Taskovski’s other CPH: DOX titles include José Luis Garcia’s The Girl From The South (screening in the Amnesty Award Competition) and Austrian auteur Timo Novotny’s Train Of Thoughts, screening in TOP DOX. An Austrian buyer (Polyfilm) has already boarded Train Of Thoughts.

Meanwhile, here in Copenhagen, Taskovski has just picked up sales rights to Fortress, a Czech doc set in Transnistria, a remote and forgotten republic in the former Soviet Union.

Another new acquisition is Tzvetanka, a Bulgarian doc about a feisty and eccentric old lady looking back on her life. Directed by Youlian Tabakov, this film has its international premiere in Nordic: Dox award.
