EXCLUSIVE: Santa Monica-based Lightning Entertainment has bulked up its EFM portfolio with international sales rights to the thriller Freezer starring Dylan McDermott and Peter Facinelli.

Anchor Bay holds US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand rights to Envision Media’s story about a man who must find a way out of an industrial freezer after Russian gangsters accuse him of stealing their money.

Lightning’s international sales team led by vice-presidents of international sales Mathilde Epstein and Alexandra Cocean have been talking up the project to buyers.

Mikael Salomon directs from a screenplay by newcomers Tom Doganoglu and Shane Weisfeld.

Envision Media’s Lee Nelson and David Buelow are producing after previously working on Sundance 2012 hit Celeste And Jesse Forever. Mark C Manuel and Ted O’ Neal are financing the project and serve as executive producers.

Lightning has sold Canadian rights on Bert Marcus’ acclaimed documentary How To Make Money Selling Drugs [pictured] to Berkshire Axis Media.
