EXCLUSIVE: Santa Monica-based Lightning Entertainment is in Berlin touting worldwide rights to the redemption drama Healing starring Hugo Weaving.

Craig Monahan will direct and his Pointblank Pictures produces with Australia’s Tait Brady.

Production is scheduled for Feb 18 in Australia on the story of a hardened prisoner assigned to care for a wounded eagle. Weaving plays a progressive prison officer opposite newcomer Don Hany and Xavier Samuel from Sundance entry Two Mothers. Alison Nisselle and Monahan wrote the screenplay.

Healing is backed by financing from Screen Australia, Film Victoria and ABC TV. Pinnacle Films will distribute the film in Australia. Lightning and consultant Richard Guardian are meeting with buyers on the project.
