Media Luna New Films has acquired international rights to veteran Brazilian filmmaker Sergio Bianchi’s TheTenants (Don’t Like It, Leave) (Os Inquilinos).
The drama set on the outskirts of Sao Paulo of a family trying to cope with noisy neighbours won Best Script and Best Supporting Actress in the Premiere Brasil Fiction competition at last year’s Rio de Janeiro Film Festival.
Tom Tykwer’s German thriller was a breakout for the director and his star star Franka Potente.
“Our real value add now is in terms of international sales,” revealed Oli Harbottle of Dogwoof.
Reference funding from the German Federal Film Board is based on a film’s box office, festival and awards performance.
