Kirk D’Amico has begun pre-sales at EFM and announced on Friday [8] that Jessica Alba is in final negotiations to star.

Weightless centres on a guilt-ridden female Astronaut who survives a crash landing and embarks upon an affair with the brother of a motorcycle driver killed in an accident she caused before the space mission.

D’Amico will produce with Steve Norris alongside the UK’s Apollo Productions and its partners Pinewood Studios and effects house Double Negative.

Separately, D’Amico is in advanced negotiations with Stefan Ruzowitzky to direct Myriad’s previously announced noir thriller Caught Stealing starring Patrick Wilson and Alec Baldwin.

David Hayter adapted the screenplay from Charlie Huston’s novel, the first in the Henry Thompson trilogy about a former high school baseball prospect who receives a clue to the whereabouts of treasure in New York.

Ruzowitzky won the best foreign language Oscar for The Counterfeiters and most recently directed Deadfall starring Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde.

Myriad has further bulked up its EFM slate with international rights to the coming-of-age thriller The World Made Straight.

Jeremy Irvine, Minka Kelly and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are attached to star and David Burris will direct the story set in a rural Appalachian community haunted by the legacy of a Civil War massacre.

Burris and Dreambridge Films’ Todd J Labarowski will produce while Brad and Melissa Coolidge are the executive producers alongside D’Amico.
