EFM: Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride, Shia LaBeouf and Zooey Deschanel have joined Bill Murray in Venture Forth and Shangri-La Entertainment’s comedy Rock The Kasbah. QED International will represent the project at Berlin.

Barry Levinson will direct from a screenplay by Mitch Glazer about a has-been music manager who takes his last client on a tour of Afghanistan and guides a young girl through the local equivalent of American Idol.

QED’s Bill Block, Venture Forth’s Jacob Pechenik, Shangri-La Entertainment’s Steve Bing and Mitch Glazer will produce and Brian Grazer and Tom Freston are the executive producers. Production is set to start in June.

QED’s EFM slate includes Time Out Of Mind to star Richard Gere, Term Life starring Vince Vaughn and Hayley Steinfeld and set for release through Universal in autumn 2015 and The Family Fang starring Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman, the latter’s directorial follow-up to Toronto 2013 hit Bad Words.
