Prolific producer/distributor San Fu Maltha, whose Amphibious 3D is a hot seller for Celsius at EFM, has revealed details of his packed production slate.

New projects include Winter In Wartime director Martin Koolhoven’s Westerling, which Fu Works is developing with Isabella Films.

The film is about controversial Dutch military commander Raymond Pierre Paul Westerling, who was labelled a war criminal for his activities in Indonesia in the 1940s.

Fu Works is also developing Ben Sombogaart’s Nadra with IDTV Film, the true story of a vicious custody battle over a 13-year-old Dutch girl in Singapore which will be shot in Dutch and English. The script is ready for the $8.2m project and it is hoped Dutch Film Fund backing will be secured in the spring.

A new Rutger Hauer project is also in the works. Portable Life, described as a road movie, is being made by artist-turned-film-maker Fleur Boonman. Maltha is producing alongside Bart van Langendonck of Savage Film.

“The reason [Hauer] did it was that he really liked the script and the director,” said Maltha. Benelux Film Distribution will release the film in Holland and Belgium.

Meanwhile, Fu Works is preparing Majesty, a drama about Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Directed by Peter de Baan, it will explore Beatrix’s role as monarch and her relationship with her husband, Prince Claus.

Maltha is also co-producing English-language drama Milo, to be co-directed by brothers Berend and Roel Boorsma, and is developing a drama about celebrated art fraudster Han van Meegeren, who painted a fake Vermeer and sold it to the Nazis. Dominique Deruddere will write and direct.
