FilmNation will introduce EFM buyers to the thriller starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan, which Open Road Films is financing and will distribute in the US.
The title is a reinvention of Frédéric Jardin’s French thriller Nuit Blanche and kicks off the recently announced strategic deal whereby Glen Basner and his team will handle sales for the fledgling Open Road Films International.
Vertigo Entertainment will produce the story about an Internal Affairs officer who teams up with a seemingly corrupt police officer fighting to save his kidnapped son.
Baran Bo Odar will direct from the screenplay by Andrea Berloff.
“With a sharp script and a first rate team of talent in front of and behind the camera, we are proud to produce Sleepless Night and to make this project the inaugural film under our international distribution agreement with FilmNation,” said Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg.
Roy Lee and Vertigo Entertainment president of production, Adam Stone will produce, while John Powers Middleton and Alex Foster serve as executive producers with Ortenberg and Peter Lawson as well as Nuit Blanche producers Lauranne Bourrachot and Marco Cherqui from Chic Films.
