Boutique UK sales agency WestEnd Films has taken on sales for Footnote, the new film from Joseph Cedar (pictured), who won a Silver Bear and was Oscar nominated for his last film Beaufort.

The film is about two scholars dedicated to the research of ancient manuscripts, one who feted by the establishment, the other who languishes in obscurity.

The cast is headed by Lior Ashkenazi (Walk On Water) and Shlomo Bar-Aba (Witness in the Warzone). The producer is David Mandill, who also produced Beaufort and Cedar’s Campfire.

The company will also be handling its first-ever feature-doc, Exodus -  The True Story, directed by Uri Borreda and Iztik Lerner and following three orphans who were aboard the ship Exodus as it sailed to Israel in 1947.

The new pick-ups come as WestEnd has continued to rack up sales on its current slate. These include deals on Rodrigo Garcia’s Mother and Child with Korea (Barunson), Russia (CP Digital) Japan (Phantom), South Africa (Ster Kinekor), Germany (Universum) and Hong Kong (Sun Dream).  

eanwhile, Stephen Frears’ Tamara Drewe has gone to the Czech Republic (AQS), Greece (Seven Group) and Yugoslavia (VTI) while The Disappearance Of Alice Creed has gone to Hong Kong (Sun Dream) and Hideo Nakata’s Chatroom has gone to Russia (CP Digital) and Portugal  (Multimedia.)
