US distributor Wolfe has snapped up North American rights for Italian indie David’s Birthday (Il Compleanno),a psychological drama set in the south of Italy.
The film is the second work by writer/director Marco Filiberti and is produced by Caroline Locardi and Agnes Trincal for Rome-based Zen Zero production company.
The film, which focuses on a couple whose relationship is shaken by the arrival of a friend’s son, features an international cast including Portugal’s Maria De Medeiros, Italy’s Alessandro Gassman, Piera Degli Espositi, Massimo Poggio and Michela Cescon as well as Brazilian newcomer and fashion model Thyago Alves.
Nonstop Sales handles world sales and the picture has its market premier screenings at Berlin’s EFM. David’s Birthday was part of the 2009 Venice Film Festival official selection.
