Adaptation of erotic bestseller to receive international premiere in Berlin.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey, the highly anticipated film adaptation of the bestselling book, is to receive its international premiere at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 5-15).

The film will be presented as a Berlinale Special Gala on Feb 11 with director Sam Taylor-Johnson, author E L James, and actors Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in attendance.

Produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti alongside James, the feature will receive just one screening at the festival.

The Fifty Shades trilogy of books has sold more than 100 million copies and been translated into 52 languages.

The first instalment centres on literature student Anastasia Steele (Johnson), whose life changes forever when she meets handsome, tormented billionaire Christian Grey (Dornan).

Universal and Focus Features plan to release the film on Feb 13.
