Sierra/Affinity has sold more than 30 territories at EFM on Black Bear Pictures’ red-hot Matthew McConaughey adventure package, set to start principal photography in June.

Stephen Gaghan will direct from Patrick Massett and John Zinman’s screenplay, set against a massive modern-day fraud as a prospector and luckless geologist set out to find gold deep in the Indonesian jungle.

Production locations will include Thailand, New York and New Mexico.

StudioCanal has swooped on the UK, Germany, France, Australia and New Zealand, while Sun will release across Latin America. Eagle Pictures with Leone Film Group distributes in Italy and Scanbox handles in Scandinavia.

Deals closed in Spain (Tripictures), Portugal (Lusomundo), Japan (Tohokushinsha), South Korea (Able Entertainment), Middle East (Eagle Films), Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand (Apsara), Turkey (Tanweer) and Benelux (Remain In Light).

Rights also went to Switzerland (Ascot Elite), South Africa (Ster-Kinekor), Czech Republic, former Yugoslavia, Hungary, Poland and Romania (Freeman Distribution/Monolith Films/Blitz Films), Bulgaria (Tandem Film), Baltics (ACME), Israel (United King), Iceland (Myndform) and Greece (Feel Good Entertainment).

Black Bear Pictures is fully financing Gold and principal Teddy Schwarzman produces alongside Michael Nozik via his Hwy61, Massett, Zinman and McConaughey.

Elevation Pictures, the company backed by Black Bear, will distribute in Canada. CAA represents US rights.

Nozik’s Hwy61 partner Paul Haggis will serve as executive producer along with Richard Middleton.
