EXCLUSIVE: Distributor takes UK and Canadian rights to Anna Muylaert’s Panorama title.
Soda Pictures has taken both UK and Canadian rights to Anna Muylaert’s Panorama and Sundance title The Second Mother.
The deal was confirmed by Soda’s MD Eve Gabereau this weekend in Berlin. Match Factory handle world rights to the Brazilian film.
The Second Mother was recently sold to Oscilloscope Laboratories for the US. The film picked up a Special Jury Award for Acting in the world cinema competition for its two main leads, Regina Case and Camila Mardila.
The Second Mother looks at the shifting relationships in a Brazilian household. A wealthy family have a live-in housekeeper. The balance in the home is thrown into chaos when the housekeeper’s confident daughter (who refuses to accept traditional class divisions) arrives to take college exams.
