Iranian film-maker Jafar Panahi has fallen victim to the travel ban imposed by president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s regime

He had intended to travel to Berlin to take part in a discussion on Iranian cinema at the World Cinema Fund Day today (February 17).

“We are surprised and deeply regret that a director who has won so many international prizes has been denied the possibility to take part in our festival and to speak about his cinematic visions,” said Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick.
