EXCLUSIVE: Star of upcoming The Mortal Instruments confirmed for long-gestated Pierre Morel-produced Overdrive. Kinology is selling.

Jamie Campbell Bower and Travis Fimmel have signed to star in Antonio Negret’s Riviera-set, action thriller Overdrive.

The long-gestated project produced by Taken director Pierre Morel is due to start shooting in southern Europe at the end of the year.

Bower and Fimmel will play car thief brothers whose permanent vacation in the South of France turns deadly after they fall foul of a local crime kingpin.

Wanted and 2 Fast 2 Furious writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas are behind the script.

“This cast puts a fresh and dynamic coat of paint on the classic car heist thriller,” said Morel, who is currently in pre-production on his Sean Penn-starring thriller Prone Gunman.

“We’ve all been anxiously awaiting for this cast to come together,” said Kinology chief Gregoire Melin.

Bower is best known for his starring role in Mortal Instruments. Fimmel has recently broken though with his role in hot cable series Vikings.

Colombian filmmaker Negret previously directed the Joel Silver-produced Transit and the award-winning thriller Towards Darkness.

Eric Dussart is executive producing alongside Sentient’s Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin. Melin also serves as a co-producer.

Bower is represented by CAA, Simon Beresford at U-based Dalzell & Beresford and attorney David Weber at Sloan Offer Weber & Dern.

Fimmel is handled by Paradigm and managers Chris Huvane and David Lane Seltzer at Management 360 and attorney A.J. Brandenstein at Sloan Offer Weber & Dern.
