The company has acquired international sales rights to the Anna Paquin film and will screen in Cannes next month and kick off sales. Paradigm represents US rights.

Shana Betz directed the 1970s-set tale from her autobiographical screenplay about a single mother who relocates to Florida with her daughters and becomes embroiled in the drug trade.

Cam Gigandet also stars in Free Ride as the love interest alongside Liana Liberato and Ava Acres, Drea De Matteo, Jeff Hephner and Brit Morgan.

Cerise Hallam Larkin, Susan Dynner and Paquin produced while Mark Larkin and Stephen Moyer served as executive producers.

“Shana’s story is riveting and awe inspiring,” said Cargo sales chief Mark Lindsay. “We are thrilled to have this film on our slate and introduce it to buyers at Cannes.”

Nick LoPiccolo of Paradigm negotiated the deal with Ronald J Levin on behalf of the filmmakers and Lindsay and Marina Grasic for Cargo. Featured Artists Agency’s Brian Dreyfuss represents Betz and played an integral role in packaging the project.

Cargo’s Croisette sales slate includes Stephen King adaptation Cell staring John Cusack, Thomas Jane’s A Magnificent Death From A Shattered Hand and Andy Garcia’s Hemingway & Fuentes.
