Young Hungarian auteur Balint Kenyeres, whose short The History Of Aviation screens in The Quinzaine, has announced details of his first feature, Hier.

The film is to be produced by Laszlo Kantor through Budapest Filmstudio and is expected to be put together as a Hungarian-Danish co-production.

Danish outfit Zentropa is poised to board the project. Peter Rasmussen (co-writer of Lars Von Trier’s Breaking The Waves) is to work on the screenplay for the film, which is budgeted at around $2.2m (€1.6m).

The film, adapted from a novel by Agota Kristof, is about a forty-something highway engineer who is sent on a jobonly to be bump into the love of his life after 20 years.

Kenyeres’ 2005 short Before Dawn screened in Cannes and was selected for 140 festivals. His new short The History Of Aviation, set in Normandy in 1905, will be showing in Cannes later in the week.
