Mumbai-based Sunstone Entertainment has picked up international rights to Teen Patti starring Ben Kingsley and Amitabh Bachchan.

Kingsley and Bachchan play mathematicians working on a theory that could redefine the principles of probability and randomness. South Indian superstar R. Madhavan also stars as a professor who encourages Bachchan’s character to test out his theories in the gambling dens of Mumbai.

Directed by Leena Yadav and produced by Ambika Hinduja, the film was financed by Indian energy and banking giant, the Hinduja Group, which is moving into film production, distribution and investment. The group recently appointed Sunir Kheterpal to head IN Entertainment, which will consolidate its content businesses.

Teen Patti, which has both Hindi and English-language versions, was released in India this February.

Sunstone, headed by Sanjay Jumani, is also selling two of its own productions – Boom-Boom, a thriller set in the fashion world starring Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Padma Lakshmi, and Imtiaaz J. Khan’s romantic drama Love & Betrayal.
