UK television channel Cinémoi will partner with Sundance Channel Global for a second time to cover this year’s 64th Cannes Film Festival in May.

The Cannes coverage, sponsored by Renault and hosted for the first time by Cinémoi’s new shareholder Jonathan Ross, will begin on May 12 and will air in more than 25 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Canada and Australia. The programming will include red carpet coverage and interviews by film critic Jason Solomons and presenter Izzy Lawrence.

“The Cannes Film Festival is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and glamorous events of the film year - a real showcase of international talent,” said Ross. “I’m delighted to be hosting the coverage this year.”

Cinémoi CEO Oliver Bengough said, “With Sundance Channel as our partner and Jonathan Ross as our host, we can bring the excitement and glamour of Cannes to a global audience in a way that has never been seen before!”

In the UK, the coverage will be broadcast on Sky Satellite as seven 26-minute shows, which will air every other day from May 12 to 24, and as part of the “Free to Air Weekend” from May 13 to 15 for Virgin customers.  Television co-producer and distributor 3DD Entertainment has arranged for the coverage to be broadcast in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark by NonStop Television, and in Australia by Studio TV.  Portions of the coverage will also be made available through www.cinemoi.tv and the Cinémoi Cannes iPhone/iPad application.

Cinémoi, whose programming is devoted to French film and lifestyle, previously worked with the Sundance Channel to provide TV coverage of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Last year’s coverage included interviews with actors and filmmakers such as Juliette Binoche, Gael García Bernal, Diane Kruger and Ken Loach.
