EXCLUSIVE: Fledgling sales outfit International Film Trust arrives on the Croisette with Cell starring John Cusack and is negotiating to handle sales on Some Velvet Morning from Neil LaBute.

IFT, launched officially last week by Michael Benaroya and Miscellaneous Entertainment, has come on to finance and produce Cell and commences sales on a bucket of territories including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and South Korea.

Tod ‘Kip’ Williams will commence shooting in September on the Stephen King adaptation about a catastrophic signal blast across US phone networks.

Richard Saperstein and Michael Benaroya produce with The Genre Company’s Brian Witten and Shara Kay. Marina Grasic and Jan Korbelin of Cargo Entertainment serve as executive producers.

Some Velvet Morning premiered at Tribeca recently and the battle-of-the-sexes two-hander stars Stanley Tucci and Alice Eve.

Tim Harms produces the drama with Daryl Freimark, Michael Corrente, Trent Othick and David Zander. Executive producers are Forrest E Crisman Je and Kevin Sisti Jr.

IFT president of sales Ariel Veneziano will also be talking up Max Rose starring Jerry Lewis, The Toxic Avenger with Arnold Schwarzenegger, comedy King Of The Kastle starring Clive Owen and Jacki Weaver and Eduardo Sanchez’s horror-thriller Exists.

“Anytime of the year it’s a competitive market, but Cannes is a different beast altogether so we have been very selective in what we have chosen to debut at our first market,” said Veneziano. “Buyers are looking for commercially driven, quality feature films from reliable suppliers and we have launched IFT to fill that gap.”
