EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Kampe’s New York-based Visit Films has closed two key deals on David Robert Mitchell’s second feature ahead of its world premiere in Critics’ Week.

Metropolitan Filmexport has snapped up French rights and Icon Film Distribution UK will release in the UK and Ireland.

Metropolitan previously acquired from Visit Mitchell’s debut feature, The Myth Of The American Sleepover, which debuted in Critics’ Week in 2010.

Both companies swooped on the film after reading the script. Maika Monroe and Keir Gilchrest star in the tale of a 19-year-old girl who after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter becomes plagued by visions and believes something is pursuing her.

Rebecca Green and Laura D Smith produced It Follows with Erik Rommesmo for the film’s financier Northern Lights Films, David Kaplan for Animal Kingdom and Mitchell.

Frederick W Green, Jeff Schlossman, and P Jennifer Dana are on the executive producers roster.

“We have believed in David’s vision since we met him on The Myth Of The American Sleepover,” said Kampe. “With that film, he lulled us into an idyllic view of the American suburban teenage world; this time he has ripped that beautiful façade away to scare the shit out of us. It is clear that major distributors are taking notice.”

Kampe negotiated both deals with CEO Ian Dawson and head of acquisitions Ben Friedman for Icon Film Distribution UK and Cyril Burkel for Metropolitan Filmexport.
