In what the parties claimed to be the biggest US buy of the festival, Lionsgate/Roadside announced on Wednesday [23] they had acquired Cannes Competition entry Blood Ties.

It is understood the deal with CAA on behalf of Worldview Entertainment closed at a little over $2m. Wild Bunch holds international rights.

Roadside Attractions will distribute the English-language debut by Guillaume Canet starring Clive Owen, Billy Crudup and Marion Cotillard.

Canet and James Gray wrote the screenplay to the crime drama and the key cast includes Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, Mathias Schoenaerts, James Caan and Domenick Lombardozzi.

Alain Attal and Hugo Selignac of Les Productions du Tresor produced Blood Ties alongside Canet, Worldview CEO Christopher Woodrow and John Lesher of Le Grisbi Productions.

Xavier Amblar, Christopher Goode, Kerry Orent, Molly Conners, Sarah Johnson Redlich, Maria Cestone, and Hoyt David Morgan served as executive producers.

Lionsgate UK acquired rights before the festival.
