EXCLUSIVE: London UK Film Focus to screen the likes of Powder Room, Johnson, In Fear and Good Morning Karachi.

The first titles have been announced for this year’s 10th anniversary edition of the London UK Film Focus (LUFF).

The Film London backed event, takes place from June 24-27.

In the main selection, numerous British films are being shown to the invited international buyers for the first time. Two new films from Salt dig deep into genre. The company is presenting horror picture The Borderlands starring regular Ben Wheatley collaborator Robin Hill and comedy Johnson starring Cam Gigandet.

Genesis Films brings romantic comedy Almost Married starring Emily Atack and Philip McGinley.

Amadeus Entertainment presents the premiere of Grey Wolf.

StudioCanal is attending LUFF in 2013 for the first time, presenting the latest Michael Winterbottom/Steve Coogan collaboration The Look of Love and Jeremy Lovering’s chilling debut In Fear.

Hanway Films is bringing several documentaries to the London bazaar. Dirty Wars tells the story of Joint Special Operations Command in Afghanistan with three years of footage, Seduced and Abandoned combines acting legend Alec Baldwin with Oscar nominated director James Toback to tell the troublesome and often hilarious story of raising feature film financing and A Story of Children and Film is the world’s first movie about kids in global cinema.

This year’s LUFF’s “breakthrough” titles include comedy Powder Room from producers Damian Jones (The Iron Lady) and James Cotton. Directed by MJ Delaney, the film written by Rachel Hirons and starring recent BAFTA winner Sheridan Smith, Jaime Winstone and singer Kate Nash.

Meanwhile producer Sarah Radclyffe and director Sabiha Sumar will be presenting Good Morning Karachi.

Also in Breakthrough is hard-hitting coming-of-age drama Calloused Hands, the debut feature from director Jesse Quinones starring Andre Royo.

The LUFF Breakthrough strand is a platform for emerging British film-makers seeking sales representation, plus providing a chance for international buyers to monitor upcoming UK talent. 

“Over the years, we have built the event from a quirky British screening event to a must attend showcase of British film talent not just in front of the camera but behind it and importantly, highlighting the amazing sales companies we have in London. This event is for them to do their stuff, and the results show how well they do it and how respected they are within the international distribution arena as the buyers return year after year,” commented Helena Mackenzie, head of inward investment & business development at Film London.
