The distributor has acquired all US and Canadian rights to Lucy Walker’s Sundance premiere The Crash Reel and plans an early winter 2013 theatrical release.

HBO helped to finance the film and will retain US television broadcast rights.

Pedro Kos and Walker scripted the story about the recuperation of snowboarding champion Kevin Pierce following a horrific crash.

Julian Cautherley and Walker produced and Sheila Nevins served as executive producer.

Phase 4’s Larry Greenberg and Sam Posner brokered the deal with Andrew Herwitz of The Film Sales Company on behalf of the filmmakers.
