EXCLUSIVE: UK distributor nabs hot Cannes thriller from Memento.

Picturehouse Entertainment has nabbed UK rights to Jeremy Saulnier’s Directors’ Fortnight buzzer Blue Ruin from French outfit Memento.

Devin Ratray, Eve Plumb and Amy Hargreaves star in the story of a man whose quiet life is turned upside down after he gets news regarding a past tragedy. Radius-TWC snapped up US rights on Saturday.

Clare Binns, programming and acquisitions director at Picturehouse Entertainment, told Screen: “Blue Ruin is a superb revenge thriller which we just had to have. Its marks the exciting emergence of a new talent, seeing it reminded me of the first time I saw Blood Simple.”

Tanja Meissner, head of sales and acquisitions, Memento Films International added: “I’m thrilled to be working with Picturehouse on the UK release of Blue Ruin. I have wanted to work with them for long time. They are so enthusiastic about the film and I have every confidence the film will be a great success there.”
