Royal Affair star David Dencik joins Serial Killer
EXCLUSIVE: Swedish actor boards Thomas Quick - The Making of a Serial Killer.
Fast-rising Swedish actor David Dencik (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, A Royal Affair) is producing and will star in $10 million Thomas Quick – The Making of a Serial Killer.
The film tells the astonishing story of Quick, Sweden’s most notorious serial killer, the region’s very own Hannibal Lecter who confessed to a string of savage murders. The only hitch was that he almost certainly didn’t commit the killings.
Now, this very strange real-life Scandinavian crime drama is to be told on screen.
The film is based on the best-selling book by the late Hannes Råstam. It is being put together by Dencik together with Hepp Film and Tre Vänner.
Dencik is currently starring in Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman alongside Hilary Swank and Meryl Streep.
Hepp’s Helena Danielsson acquired the rights to the book with Dencik from the Salomonsson Agency.
Quick was convicted of eight murders and confessed to an additional twenty-five. However, as investigative reporter Råstam discovered after meeting him in the mental institution where he had been incarcerated, his story wasn’t at all what it seemed. The journalist exposed serious shortcomings in the court case against Quick and uncovered what was essentially a huge judicial scandal
The screenplay for the new movie is being written by Johan Melin.
