The Spanish production company is planning to start shooting this summer.

Major Spanish producers Tornasol Films are set to make a football comedy titled El Sueño De Ivan, directed by local film-maker Roberto Santiago.

The film, which will be a co-production with regular Tornasol collaborator Castafiore Films, will tell the story of a young man (Ivan) who dreams of playing football for his country in the World Cup.

Shooting is set to start this summer in Spain and rising young actress Cristina Alcazar is already confirmed to star in the film, according to her agency Kuranda. Latido Films is handling international sales on the film.

Santiago previously directed the comedy Road To Santiago, which performed well at the Spanish box office last year ($5m) through Warner Bros, and another football related comedy The Longest Penalty In The World (2005), which is being remade in Germany by Ascot Elite Entertainment.

Tornasol Films was responsible for Alex De La Iglesia’s English-language crime drama The Oxford Murders, starring Elijah Wood and John Hurt, and Juan Jose Campanella’s foreign-language Oscar winner, The Secret In Their Eyes, which took an impressive $8m at the Spanish box office through Alta Films.
