UTV Motion Pictures has picked up Indian rights to Anand Gandhi’s award-winning debut feature Ship of Theseus and will release it across India on July 19.

The film will be presented by producer-director Kiran Rao, whose directing credits include Mumbai Diaries (Dhobi Ghat).

Starring Aida El-Kashef, Neeraj Kabi and Sohum Shah, the film explores philosophical questions through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and an enterprising stockbroker.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012 and went on to win prizes at the London, Tokyo, Mumbai and Dubai film festivals.

Recyclewala Films, the independent production outfit founded by Anand Gandhi and Sohum Shah, also recently wrapped Tumbad, directed by Rahi Barve and starring Shah.
