Alexander Payne selected Marcel Carne’s film as one of his influences.

Marcel Carne’s Hotel du Nord [pictured] has been selected by acclaimed film-maker Alexander Payne as the French film that greatly influenced him in the 16th annual City Of Lights, City Of Angels (COLCOA) week of French film premieres in Los Angeles.

The 1938 classic starring Jean-Paul Aumont and Arletty will be screened as part of the special afternoon classics section of COLCOA which takes place April 16-23.

Yves Montand will be celebrated on the 20th anniversary of his death with a digital presentation of the restored version of Le Sauvage. Montand’s last companion Carole Amiel and Cinematheque director Serge Toubiana will lead a special panel discussion about Montand following the screening of the film.
 
Focus On A Filmmaker will honour Julie Delpy who will screen 2 Days In Paris and her comedy Le Skylab.
